It is likely that Johan Tobias Sergel made the drawing in Rome (1767–77), where he made many drafts of antique sculptures but also of frescos of Raffaello, Annibale Carracci and Domenichino. Polyphemos playing the pan pipes is based on a fresco by Annibale Carracci (1595–1608) in Palazzo Farnese (now Embassy of France) in Rome.

The portrait of the young Lieutenant Colonel Per Otto Adelborg painted by Carl Frederik von Breda (approx. 1814-18) is the cornerstone of the collection of the Friends of the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. It is a great addition to the collection of the museum that already includes nine other portraits by von Breda. Portraits were one of the focal points of the collection of Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff.

The first donation by the Sinebrychoff Art Museum Friends was made at the opening ceremony of the society on 21.3.2012.

The museum wishes to give very warm thanks to the Friends of the Sinebrychoff Art Museum!
